“INGA is the largest single hydropower initiative in the world with a potential to reach 50,000 MW of electricity” commented in 2006 by Mr. Di Panzu, the General Director of SNEL, “Rapidly expanding energy demands, both nationally and internationally, are the basis upon which we have concluded these important agreements with MagEnergy”
The INGA stations currently supply the DRC and the Republic of Congo. A Direct-Current (DC) power line (the INGA-Shaba line) currently connects INGA to Lubumbashi in the Katanga region of southern DRC. This line then connects to the Southern Africa Power Pool and thus supplies power to South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
