Meeting global demand – from the Ground up
MagIndustries has established four divisions to take advantage of our unique asset portfolio in the region.
MagMinerals owns exclusive rights to the Kouilou Potash Project, one of the world’s largest undeveloped potash deposits. Our immediate focus is to construct and commission a 600,000 tonne per year potash plant on the property to produce primarily agricultural-grade potash fertilizers to meet growing demand from markets in South America, South Africa and Europe. The facility is scheduled to start production in 2012.
MagForestry owns the rights to a 68,000 hectare commercial eucalyptus forestry plantation overlying the Kouilou potash property. The plantation supplies our recently-commissioned 500,000 tonne per year wood chip plant located in the nearby port of Pointe-Noire. MagForestry is now delivering on sales contracts for the supply of eucalyptus chips to leading customers in the global pulp and paper and fiberboard industry.
MagEnergy is financing and project managing the refurbishment and rehabilitation of currently off-line turbines at the Inga hydro-electric facility on the Congo River in the nearby Democratic Republic of Congo.
MagMetals plans to produce high quality magnesium metal and magnesium alloys in a new facility that will be built adjacent to our potash plant, utilizing the magnesium-rich waste stream from our potash production facility.
